The Minneapolis Holiday Market is this year simply known as Holidazzle. Dale and I checked it out and saw Santa Claus wandering about.

Obama in Minneapolis
At a recent stop in Minneapolis, President Obama stopped by Matt's Bar for a Jucy Lucy; considered to be one of the best burgers in town. I haven't been for a few years, but the Jucy Lucy, with it's molten hot cheese hidden inside the burger patty, can be quite a shock when one is not expecting it. I learned the hard way when I burned my tongue on the first one I ever tried. I've learned to be more careful.

35W
I took this shot from the 46th Street bridge over 35W. I remember crossing the Diamond Lake Road bridge (54th Street) as a kid and watching the cars and looking at the same view although it was quite a different skyline back in the 70s.
Skyline from the Stone Arch Bridge
Recently on Facebook my friend Ken posted this photo of the skyline taken from the Stone Arch Bridge. Great shot.

Anodyne
Have already made a couple of trips to Anodyne in the week I've been off of school for summer vacation. Recently I found that Anodyne was sold to new owners but will still remain open under a new name. Dale thinks the menu items will remain the same. Hopefully because this place makes great food. They also make the best mocha I've ever had - never too sweet.

Minneapolis Skyline
Photo taken during my March 19 visit to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. As a kid in the 1970s I was always captivated by this view. Of course, the skyline looked a bit different than this. It's still a striking view despite the gray winter day.
More Art Institute - March 19
I remember many of these paintings from the Art Adventure program at Annunciation Grade School back in the day. The program was sponsored by the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. I still seek out to view many of the works of art we learned about back then whenever I find myself at the Institute.

From Dale's Office
Dale and I stopped by his office to drop something off on the way to church this morning. I took the above photos from his building. The above photo shows the corner of 1st Avenue and 26th which is due west and just across the alley. The bottom photo shows the same corner just to the south. I'm never sure if Joe's Chicken Shack is still even in business.

Loring Kitchen and Bar
Yesterday Dale and I went to brunch at the Loring Kitchen and Bar which looks out over Loring Park. We both got mimosas and shared a caramel roll. I got the classic eggs Benedict and Dale got an omelet. Both of our items came with cheesy hashbrowns. I really like the atmosphere there and it always seems to be hoppin'.

Uptown
Dale and I went to Uptown this afternoon to get him some clothes for our upcoming trip. It's looking quite the same as it always has.

Spruce Street
Dale and I went to brunch this morning at the Loring Kitchen and Bar which is on Loring Park. We got there a little early so we took a walk around the neighborhood. The photo of this new high rise was taken at 14th and Spruce. There is so much new development in the area.

The Mary Tyler Moore Statue
Yes, The Mary Tyler Moore Show is my all-time favorite television sit-com. I remember Mom pointing out scenes of Minneapolis from the opening credits of the show as it played on our portable Panasonic television while she was cutting my hair in the kitchen on a summer night way back in 1970 or 1971. I was young enough to think that Mary actually lived here.

Weisman Art Museum
I've only been to the Weisman once while on a field trip with a group of 5th graders. They loved the place and so did I. The big painting of the cooped up chickens is unforgettable.

Mill Ruins Park
If I could time travel, the first place I'd go would be old Minneapolis. I'd love to see what the city was like in its milling heyday.

METRO Blue Line light-rail/Hiawatha Avenue
I'm so happy light rail has become a reality. Minnapolis had one of the best street-car systems in the country when it was dismantled in the 1950s [?] in the name of progress. That was before my time. I remember reading about efforts to bring about light rail in the late 70s and early 80s. It became a reality in [?]. Everything old really does become new again.

Matisse at MIA
This is not actually a painting but a background you could pose in front of. Noel and I weren't feeling like getting our pictures taken but I still thought it looked pretty enough to snap a photo of it.

The Lowbrow for Sunday Brunch
Dale and I skipped church and went to The Lowbrow for brunch today. He had bacon and eggs. I got a buttermilk pancake and a sandwich called The Truckstop. It's egg, sausage, and cheese on a fluffy white bun. It's delicious.

Lake Nokomis
I took this photo of Lake Nokomis last week on a very cold day. This is not far from the beach Mom used to take us as kids.
