From Boom Island

Tuesday, October 3, 2017
Had a meeting after school in Nordeast. Got there early so I took a walk over to Boom Island and then to Nicollet. Gorgeous day for a nice hike.

35W

I took this shot from the 46th Street bridge over 35W. I remember crossing the Diamond Lake Road bridge (54th Street) as a kid and watching the cars and looking at the same view although it was quite a different skyline back in the 70s.

Skyline from the Stone Arch Bridge

Recently on Facebook my friend Ken posted this photo of the skyline taken from the Stone Arch Bridge. Great shot.

Minneapolis Skyline

Photo taken during my March 19 visit to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. As a kid in the 1970s I was always captivated by this view. Of course, the skyline looked a bit different than this. It's still a striking view despite the gray winter day.

Downtown Skyline from the American Swedish Institute

Dale and I went to the Swedish institute over Christmas vacation to view the tomtens and the Christmas trees. I took the above photo from the third floor of the mansion looking north.

Lake Nokomis

Dale and I took Athena around Lake Nokomis the other day. It was sunny and cool - a beautiful fall day. The beach Mom used to take us to as kids is to the right. You can see downtown rising above the trees in the center of the picture.

My Minneapolis

My brothers and I were born in Minneapolis, Minnesota between the mid-1960's and the mid-1970's. This blog looks at the city itself, places within it, the surrounding area, and other related things that we experienced from the time our lives began until the present time.

The above photo is from a book of photographs by Jerome Liebling and shows what the downtown Minneapolis skyline would have looked like around the time I was born in 1966.
