From Boom Island

Had a meeting after school in Nordeast. Got there early so I took a walk over to Boom Island and then to Nicollet. Gorgeous day for a nice hike.

Nye's

Nye's Polonaise closed recently. Although not a regular, I had quite a fondness for the place which goes back a number of years. My most recent visit was a notable and fun high school reunion which Dale and I attended together. 

Cold

Despite the fact that it's been cold as Hell lately, there's a serenity to winter that I can still appreciate. This scene is of Minneahaha Creek between 28th Avenue and Hiawatha on 46th Street.

Minneapolis Holiday Market

The Minneapolis Holiday Market is this year simply known as Holidazzle. Dale and I checked it out and saw Santa Claus wandering about. 

Obama in Minneapolis

At a recent stop in Minneapolis, President Obama stopped by Matt's Bar for a Jucy Lucy; considered to be one of the best burgers in town. I haven't been for a few years, but the Jucy Lucy, with it's molten hot cheese hidden inside the burger patty, can be quite a shock when one is not expecting it. I learned the hard way when I burned my tongue on the first one I ever tried. I've learned to be more careful.

Weisman Art Museum

I've only been to the Weisman once while on a field trip with a group of 5th graders. They loved the place and so did I. The big painting of the cooped up chickens is unforgettable.

Town Hall Tap

Dale and I had dinner with our friends Steve and Tom at the 48th and Chicago  Town Hall Tap last night.

Bitter Cold

The governor called off school today because of the extreme cold. I woke up about 8:00 this morning and the temperature was 20 below zero. By 9:30 it was still 20 below. By noon, when I took Athena out for a walk, it was 17 below!
