Buds

I guess spring is here. We're getting buds on the trees, bushes, and shrubs. The ones pictured here are near Lake of the Isles. I had a doctor appointment this morning and my clinic is just off the lake. Last year at this time there was still snow on the ground.

Curran's Part 3

Met some work chums at Curran's right before school the other day. This photo is hanging in the waiting area. Judging by the cars it looks like the shot is from the early or mid-1970's.  It reminds me of when we first started eating there after church when we were kids.

Grand Cafe

Dale and I had brunch this morning at Grand Cafe. I had the French toast and Dale had the oatmeal. Dale started with a blueberry scone which was absolutely delicious. The following is from Grand Cafe's website.

"The Grand Cafe is a neighborhood restaurant that offers New American and Continental bistro fare. Since our opening in 2006, our space has epitomized romance and repose, from the giant vintage Baker Boy oven to our eclectic collection of Minnehaha Falls artwork."

"We seek out the best local and artisanal products the Upper Midwest has to offer: our menu undergoes a near-complete makeover every season, though many items change from week to week as well. Our farm-to-table approach is consistently lauded by the Minneapolitan food media and local foods organizations as one of the best in the Twin Cities."

I love the neighborhood feel of the restaurant and the food is absolutely divine. Oh, and by the way, my grandfather had a Baker Boy oven at his bakery in northern Minnesota.

Washburn High School Auditorium

Today I took the kids from school over to Washburn to see the Kenwood Symphony Orchestra. It was fun to be in the auditorium of the high school I attended and I remembered all of the plays I was in that were performed on that stage - The Music Man, Fiddler On the Roof, Deadwood Dick. It's all looking good.
